Current World Cup trophy, designed by Italian artist Silvio
Gazzaniga stands 36.5 centimeters tall and is made of 5 kg of 18
carat(75%) solid gold with a base (13 centimeters in diameter)
containing two layers of malachite. produced by Bertoni, Milano,
it weighs 6.175kg (13.6lb) in total and depicts tow human
figures holding up the earth. It was commissioned for the 1974
world cup after Brazil took permanent possession of the Jules
Rimet Trophy, the original prize for World Cup winners, after
winning it three times. |
